Motion Arts Collective is a vibrant studio offering a wide range of performing arts, including dance, yoga, martial arts, circus, gymnastics, and more. We encourage self-expression and creativity through diverse disciplines, from the fluidity of dance and the mindfulness of yoga, to the strength of gymnastics, the discipline of martial arts, and the dynamic nature of circus movement. Our focus is on personal growth, skill development, and community. We provide a welcoming environment where individuals of all levels can explore new ways of moving, and connect with their bodies in transformative ways.

Meet the Instructors

Hatha, Yin Yoga, Sound Healing, Kids Yoga
Joanna Hernandez
Joanna, a licensed Physical Therapist with 17 years of experience, has practiced yoga for 26 years. She completed her 500-hour yoga teacher training in 2018 and furthered her expertise with certifications in Yin Yoga and Reiki Level 2. Joanna integrates her knowledge of the human body with her passion for yoga, fostering both physical and spiritual transformation. A devoted mother and Ironman athlete, Joanna’s classes emphasize fun and personal growth.

Vinyasa Yoga and Mommy and Me Yoga
Maya Victoria
With 20 years of dedicated yoga practice, Maya blends Vinyasa and Kundalini yoga to create a grounded routine that fosters strength, balance, and clarity. Her classes encourage movement, breath, and connection to the body’s natural rhythm, offering a transformative space for self-awareness and personal growth.

Vinyasa Yoga
Loren Holzem
Loren teaches Vinyasa yoga and has led classes in the Bay Area for several years before moving to Pine Mountain Club in 2020. His classes, designed for all levels, may include challenging postures and sequences, but Loren always adjusts his classes to meet students’ needs, providing personalized support to help them progress in their practice.

Circus Workshops
Christina Karlen
Christina grew up in the San Fernando Valley, where she competed in both gymnastics and diving. At the age of 19, she joined a group of Hollywood stuntmen and began training on the flying trapeze. Within a year, she landed her first professional circus gig, kicking off a decade-long adventure of travel and performances around the world. Although she has since moved on from her trapeze career, Christina continues to express her passion for the circus through the art of juggling. A resident of PMC for the past seven years, Christina can often be seen juggling in her front yard or at the park. She is now thrilled to join Motion Arts Collective for a fun-filled circus workshop, offering juggling and tightrope activities for all ages.

Studio Director
Ariel Ogilvie
Ariel began her dance journey at the age of three, receiving classical training in ballet, tap, and jazz. As a teenager, her passion expanded to hip hop, and she joined her high school’s cheerleading squad and dance team. In college at University of California, Santa Barbara, Ariel further developed her craft through modern dance and ballroom. She went on to become a Raiderette, cheering for the Oakland Raiders in the NFL for three years, combining athleticism and artistry in her performances.
In her adult years, Ariel deepened her connection to movement through conscious dance practices, including 5Rhythms, ecstatic dance, and other creative movement forms. Her diverse experience has shaped her into a versatile and expressive dancer, constantly exploring the transformative power of dance.

Shelly Shaw
Shelly has been passionate about dance since elementary school. She majored in Theater Arts and Dance with a focus on Dance at California State University, Los Angeles, where she graduated magna cum laude, at the top of her class. In 2020, Shelly began her career as a dance instructor, teaching students ranging from 3 years old to adults. Over the years, she has taught a wide variety of dance styles, including tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop, cheerleading, creative movement, pep flags, and hula.

Night Yoga
Andrea Branca
Andrea is a yoga instructor who blends physical practice with spiritual growth, focusing on authenticity and self-expression. With over 20 years of personal practice, she is currently completing her Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) certification. Andrea creates classes that are fun, enjoyable, and adaptable, encouraging students to embrace their real selves on and off the mat.

Adult Jazz and Kids Gymnastics
Tamra
Tamra is a holistic health coach, clinical iridologist, and certified postural therapist with extensive training in dance, gymnastics, and musical theatre. She has worked as a gymnastics and performance coach and led wellness programs that combine postural therapy, mindfulness, and nutrition. Tamra also manages a virtual health membership and has expertise in branding and marketing. She helps small businesses grow their presence with creative strategies and digital media.

Tara Hadley
Tara discovered her passion for dance at Santa Monica College, training under renowned instructors such as Karen McDonald, and later graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from California State University Long Beach. She has performed in films like I Got the Hookup 2 and Pandemic Statements and recently completed her Dance Teacher for Children Certification. Outside of dance, Tara enjoys Disneyland visits, Gwen Stefani concerts, hiking, and spending time with her two dogs.
